M2 .50 BMG machine gun, HDR.

Yes, it's a real. I've shot this one. It's a freaking cannon, even if converted to semi-auto. The bullets in the photo are not live (for safety) but otherwise real.

Tone mapping was over-done on purpose because I thought it looked cool, so I don't want to hear it. ;)

I'm not a huge fan of HDR, but this is a awesome picture.

50's are fun, I had a single shot bolt action one, It was a lot of fun to shoot.  It was fun seeing how much stuff you can blow of the shooting bench's next to you. :)
I sold the gun, due to ammo cost going, everybody wanted to shoot it, but no one wanted to pay for ammo.

I don't know what it is now, but there was one point it was about $5 a round.  This one was fun to shoot.

I've had my fun with overblown HDR, and for the most part I agree with you.  But I thought in this case it fit the image rather well.  Thanks for the comment!

yea, I have not looked at the prices now. I know a lot of the cheap surplus has dried up, so besides reloading, factory ammo is it. A lot of my friends where mad that I sold it but then again they where not buying ammo for it.

Your photo makes me want to try some overblown HDR :)

It looks like a painting. What kind of recoil that thing must have.

It's a photo, I [over]used HDR to get the effect. The recoil actually isn't bad, mostly because it's on a tripod that's buried into the ground and it weighs 80 lbs, so that absorbs the recoil rather well. But after shooting it only a few rounds I decided that it was more than I wanted to be responsible for, so I stopped. Thing's a cannon.

Hey man, i like it! never heard of luminance HDR, I use Cs5 and photomatix but i like this.

Thank you! Luminance HDR, a.k.a. Qtpfsgui.... I think "Luminance" is a new name for it, and I can see why they changed it.

Mostly just starting my adventures into HDR, if I do it enough I'll probably buy a copy of Photomatix.
